Twenty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
-
To follow Christ is inevitably to suffer. But there are great rewards too. However, we are weak and cowardly. Without God we can do nothing. Let us turn to God and ask pardon for our failures and strength in our weakness.
First Reading:
Even though speaking God's message to the people has brought Jeremiah nothing but insults, he is unable to remain silent.
Second Reading:
St. Paul urges the Romans not to live like the people around them.
Gospel:
Jesus foretells his sufferings and death, and tells his disciples that they too must be prepared to suffer.
